Notes from the Intra-Office Memo

Whiteboard got off to a good start with computer ... but it all turned sour at the first time out. While walking toward the bench, a manager threw a towel to Whiteboard. He didn't catch it cleanly, and from that point forward, seemed to just be wiped out.

In a small surprise, Laser Printer made short work of PDA. To be fair, PDA was playing without their senior point guard. "I don't know how much you've seen us play," PDA said, "but if PDA doesn't have anybody to run the point, PDA is pretty much useless." In a show of poor sportsmanship, Laser Printer fans ended the game with a chant directed at PDA: "Get it in writing! Clap, Clap, Clap-Clap-Clap."

The most exciting finish of Round 3 was definitely Stapler's defeat of Mechanical Pencil. MP's coach blamed himself for a less-than-perfect discussion in the huddle at the final timeout of the game. He said, "Listen, guys, we've got the lead ... but do we have enough lead to finish? Because it doesn't matter who led in the middle, but who leads at the end. So, we're going to make a substitution here. Get lead in there ... and get the lead out, you guys!"

Confused, lead stood with one foot on the sidelines and one on the court as Mechanical Pencil gave up the lead.

Overheard in the Break Room

We played a good first half, but from there, we just went into the tank. -- Water Cooler

I don't know how this happened ... we were all over the boards! -- Push Pins

You can't say we didn't work for it today. Half way through, when it looked like we were a mess, coach turned us inside out and gave us a whole new look. But in the end, we folded. -- Manila Folders
