Of the four matchups this week, the most fiery will be Hot Wheels vs. Nerfball. It's 12 vs. 15 as two teams who've flown through the tournament searching for the respect that the seeding committee didn't give them look across the table at themselves with the Final Four on the line. One Cinderella goes to the ball, the other turns into a pumpkin ... vote carefully, my friend.      Slip-n-slide was sailing along well early and actually had a good lead over Mr. Potato Head midway through the first half. Things just came to a screeching halt ... almost as if somebody had turned the hose off.      Hot Wheels cruised to victory due to the inability of one-seed Twister to mount any offense. Unfortunately for Twister, there was a flurry of three-second calls when Twister put right foot on red and couldn't leave the lane. Things weren't much better in the second half when left hand blue forced Twister out of bounds for 12 minutes of play. The only bright spot: no traveling calls.      And what a turnaround for Lincoln Logs. After somehow (my guess is by hypnotic suggestion) defeating the super-cool Operation in Round Two, public outrage began to swell.      It all came to a head when a crazed Eric from Leroy got a ticket behind the Lincoln Logs bench and spouted, "Lincoln Logs are going down! Legos will lay the wood to those low-tech cabin-dwellers! Legos will work their blocks off to put the smack down on Lincoln Logs! As a modern Talking Heads band might put it... they will be "Burnin Down da HizZouse!". Face it, termite food just is not ready for the Big Show. Nobody goes to the store to see a sixteen-foot tall Godzilla Lincoln Log sculpture! Bah! Legos did not gain the respect it deserved in seeding! This whole thing is stacked!"      Needless to say, Lincoln Logs were stumped. They lumbered through the contest like a bunch of saps. "We would have been scared of Operation," Legos said. "But Lincoln Logs? Get serious. Did we take them to the woodshed? We made them INTO the woodshed!"      Lincoln Logs ... whatever. |

We lacked desire today ... we thought we were hungry. Shoot, we thought we were hungry hungry. But to keep playing this late in the tournament, I guess you've got to be hungry hungry hungry. -- Hungry Hungry Hippos      It's funny ... we didn't see this coming. -- Magic Eight Ball |
